About the Step3 Program

Step3 is a 12-month program that provides a programmatic opportunity for participants to become stronger community assets through receiving mentorship, accomplishing a life goal, and completing a community service project.

We aspire to see people THRIVE in their careers, as community advocates and ambassadors, and in the fulfillment of goals and plans.

  • Step3 participants will be given $1000 to accomplish a life goal. There is no set boundary on the life goal other than it has to have been something they have wanted for more than one year, lack of resources must have been a determining limiting factor, and the full $1000 must be spent.

Completing benchmarks (attending Step3 sessions monthly, meeting with a mentor monthly, moving forward with a passion project) will trigger three disbursements of $333.33 at the end of Q1, Q2, and Q3.

  • Attend one community event per quarter as a StepUp representative to advocate for themselves and their community; bring back resources and information to StepUp Durham staff and Step3 meetings

During Quarters 2-4, bring one person with them to those community events.
