Nancy Rosales’ Journey

My journey has been about stepping outside my comfort zone, embracing opportunities, and believing it is never too late to pursue something new.  As a single mother, balancing motherhood, school, and finances has not always been easy.  My daughter, Nathalia, continues to be one of my greatest motivations to keep moving forward.  I returned to Durham Technical Community College, where I earned my Associate in Science degree in Spring 2026 and my BioWork Certification in Summer 2026.

My hands-on laboratory experience at Biogen strengthened my passion for science and research.  I am now pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Microbiology at North Carolina Center University.

Through StepUp Durham, I have gained valuable skills in resume building, interview preparation, job searching, and connecting with community resources.  Most importantly, the program reminded me how powerful it is to have someone believe in your potential. I am grateful for my daughter, my instructors, my coach, Kevin, and everyone who has supported me along the way.  I am excited for what God has ahead and for the opportunity to make a difference in my community.  Thank you, Kevin, for being part of my journey!
